Country Roads & Park Lanes...

These past couple weeks, there has a lot of birding from the car since a few light frosty mornings [with temps in the mid 30's to freezing].  Factoring in the humidity here, and other days foggy and wet; it's kept me inside the vehicle when I DID go out. On good days, it's been chilly in the morning, but nice and sunny enough to be out walking the park trails and coming upon the ponds with water fowl, and seeing birds in flight out in the fields...groups of dozens together, some couples, some individuals. These were seen recently at Oso Bay Wetlands, Bazemore Park, Paradise Pond, and Lakeview Park...

  2. Hello, Anni!
The Sandhill Cranes are one of my favorites today, they are always neat to see. I like Mergansers and the Northern Harrier, great sightings and photos. It is very cold here too, we may have some snow tomorrow. Thank you for hosting! Have a great day and a happy weekend.

  5. Really enjoyed the photos of the sandhill cranes! Hope it warms up for you soon, we're in for more cold and rain/snow before we see our next warmup. I don't mind too much as it tends to bring my birds to the feeders. Have a great rest of your weekend!

  6. We haven't seen a Northern Harrier in such a long time! They are neat birds with that owl face. And I love the Mergansers! We've had more winter weather than usual here in FL this year too. But tomorrow should be in the 70s so we'll be out and about. Enjoy your weekend!

  9. What a really specialpost today! The Harrier in flight is wonderful, and so close! It looks like you called to him, and he is flying right to you! And the Sandhill Crane shots are wonderful, my favorite being the first one.

  12. Sounds like you're having similar weather to us Anni. Trouble is we're banned from ringing due to lockdown and also banned from anything but essential travel. You saw fine birds on your journeys and the pictures of the harrier and the cranes are just super. Enjoy your weekend and the week ahead ☺️.
