Yellow Bird...Sit All Alone Like Me

For the last three days, I have been having connection problems with both IE and Firefox. Some sites will open, while other blogs I have an error message that states "Server Not Found". I've even tried connecting through my smartphone and it too will not load some pages. I hope soon it will clear up. In the meantime, if I don't visit with you and view your bird photos...realize I cannot connect. I'm not ignoring you --- and I appreciate your participation. Wish me luck. [Bud is having the same connection difficulties on his smartphone...with a totally different browser than I use]

During the Spring Migration I collected several photos off my camera and got way behind in sharing the images. Today, tho, I'm sharing a few spotted around our 60 mile radius from home. And going with a theme this week, it's all about yellow [the yellow breasted chat is a new one for me!!!] --

from top to bottom: YELLOW WARBLER [1]  YELLOW BREASTED CHAT [3] SUMMER TANAGER [female 1] WILSON'S WARBER [1] COUCH'S KINGBIRD [1] HOODED WARBER [3]
photos taken: Blucher Park - Corpus Christi, Texas [yellow warbler]  Paradise Pond - Port Aransas, Texas [yellow breasted chat]  Paradise Pond - Port Aransas, Texas [summer tanager]  Port A Birding Center - Port Aransas, Texas [wilson's warbler]  Backyard - Corpus Christi, Texas [couch's kingbird]  Paradise Pond - Port Aransas, Texas [hooded warbler]

TRIVIA: The chat is considered a warbler in guide books and the science of ornithology, tho quite a few characteristics are not of the warbler family. Also, when foraging, the Yellow-breasted Chat takes food from the foliage and holds the food with its foot while eating, a behavior not observed in any other warbler species.

Now share your birding experiences:

  1. My goodness you give me warbler envy! The chat is such an interesting bird-- I have never gotten a close shot-- and so far have photographed neither the Couch's Kingbird nor the Hooded Warbler.

    1. ...seems to me you had quite a few migrants in your area too!!! [the Hooded Warbler is quite a challenge to have 'sit still' long enough to focus on it!!]

    2. Anni, thanks for putting up my correct current post in Linky. My computer has been fighting me by locking up and I can't find the reason.Been spending too much time trying to fix it. Problem started a couple of weeks ago when my search page was hijacked by "MyPage." Just can't get rid of it and I feel it is no coincidence that my problems started after that happened.

    3. Ken...no problem. And I too have been having problems...tho no hijacking. Good luck!!

  13. The hooded warbler is amazing! Well, I have to tell you that I had the same problem about a week ago. It got worse and worse until Firefox totally shut down. My computer guy gave me Chrome, and I love it! It is rated the top browser for a good reason...it is lightning fast!! I am now glad Firefox finally crashed, Chrome rules!!

  20. Nice yellow theme - I would find it hard to come up with that many examples where I live! I think the standout among these for me is the Hooded Warbler, what lovely markings it has. It made me want to look it up on Wikipedia and apparently their call sounds a bit like someone whistling "The red! The red t-shirt!" Seems a bit of a stretch but I'll have to keep my ear out if I'm ever in the Eastern USA.

  22. I think it was that last Firefox update Anni - had similar problems.I like the yellow theme today and you have some fine warblers that fit the bill. The yellow of the Hooded Warbler is just so intense and a wonderful contrast to the black hoodie it wears. Thanks for hosting again.
