Birds in Paradise Pond & More...

Weather-wise here in the Coastal Bend of Texas, it's been nearly perfect! Mild overnight temperatures, soothing high temperatures, and most enjoyable....LOW HUMIDITY!! In fact the morning I drove to the islands, when I was in the shade viewing birds on the pond, it was a bit chilly when the wind blew in. But, the sun was warming. A most beautiful week behind us with a promise of more to come! These photos below are all from the same area within a mile radius of each. The two [the grackle and the white morph heron] were seen at Paradise Pond. The rest were at Leonabelle Reserve [aka Port Aransas Wildlife].

  6. Once again you have captured awesome photos of these beautiful birds and the white pelicans look like they're going ha ha ha ha we love this weather in the sunshine. I wonder if Birds feel humidity. And my favorite photo of all is the brown pelican with the other bird that I have now forgotten the name of. We've had three days of hardly any humidity at all when it's been wonderful Arlo's were not low we went we had us-68 a 70 and a 71 but so much better than it was

  8. Your new header is just too cute for words! You are a greatly talented artist. Of course your birds complement the little kitty. We have been sweltering in the heat and humidity, not to mention those pop-up showers, one of which surprised me this morning as I was immersed in recording the calls of a Great Horned Owl before sunrise way out at the lake with no cover except for an umbrella which did not handle the wind very well...

  10. My most vivid memory of White Ibises is of visiting a friend in Florida many years ago, when the birds would routinely excavate his lawn each day in search of grubs. He was not too thrilled!

  11. I always thought of the Avocet to be a rather large bird. But compared to the pelican it is small. The pelican is huge. Love the Roseate spoonbill :)
