Those Royal Terns are handsome. In Florida I had both Royal and Caspian, rather similar but the Royal is more graceful in flight. The Great Egret is really in breeding condition with that bright green at the base of its bill.
ReplyDeletethe third down is saying Ha Ha Ha at your Tern around, look at me... love that green on the egret
ReplyDeleteThank you for this bounty of birds!
ReplyDeleteHello Anni,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I love all the Tern images. The breeding Avocet is beautiful. They are all lovely birds and photos. Thanks for hosting. Have a happy weekend.
I have never seen this green on a Great Heron, what a wonderful capture! We have one around here, but it does not have it, it could be a female. Anyway, I will be on the lookout for it. Those Royal Terns must be a hoot to watch! You have really captured the intensity of the Blue Egret. They always seem so stern.
ReplyDeletebeautiful species all of them, but my favourite are the ROYAL TERN and the American Avocet. The two I have not seen myself. But I have, of course, seen other terns and avocets. :)
ReplyDeleteLime green! WOW! Those breeding colors make it even harder for me to ID birds! But you've seen some beauties. I hope I got my Willet right today! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have seen many Great Egrets, but I don't ever recall seeing that lime green. It is nothing short of spectacular.
ReplyDeleteCute title! These are great pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting collection. Beautifully captured!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that you can get both Willets in Texas. That makes for good ID challenges for birders in your and other areas. Of course I would be happy with either. LoL. Have a special Sunday and thanks for the link today 😊.
ReplyDeleteDear Anni,
ReplyDeleteyour Tern photos are full of life and action! Other beautiful bird shots - and I think the AMERICAN AVOCET is a particularly pretty bird - a redhead like me ;-))
All the best and happy Sunday!

PS: Unfortunately I don't have any birds for you this time...
Oh, my goodness...that last shot is a winner! I so love that. Great capture though of all the birds...you don't know how much I enjoy seeing what you get. Wish I could see even half as much.
ReplyDeleteWater birds are some of my favorite. I love that first picture of the Royal Tern the best, Anni. It looks like s/he has a crew cut! *haha* ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnother great collection of wonderful photographs!
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year when many birds acquire special plumage. The Great Egrets always make me do a double-take when they're sporting those green lores!
