§ Four Photos...

Bud and I finished the living room update. Painting is done, new wiring is done, furniture is moved around, curtain and curtain rods are hung...and our walls are decorated with art work! Done, done, done. I am thinking seriously of taking a few weeks off before we begin in the bedrooms and master bath! I want to see some birds...alive, and in person. It's been way too long since I've been out and about in the fresh air and sunshine!!! This post will be the last of the three week series of photos from my book...

Top to bottom:

Killdeer Chick
Nighthawk
Scissortailed Flycatcher

§ Leonabelle Birding Center....

Bud and I stopped at Leonabelle Turnbull's Birding Center before heading out to lunch. We have taken note of all the other areas we stop to photograph birds, that most places lack in few migrant birds.  Nothing typical lately.  Dunno know what's up with that. Here are some birds we saw on the lake...

§ Along Ocean Drive...

With the construction going on at our home this week, I've once again been more or less in another lock-down. But, I managed to get out early Friday morning. But only for an hour before I had to get back and get the car safe under the garage roof. LOL...I like it secure and parked inside, and NOT on the street. Anyway, I left just after sunrise, and drove along Ocean Drive near the NAS [naval air station] and the bay. I figured there is BOUND to be water there, where most of the natural ponds/lakes and riverbeds are dry or drying from our drought. [rain is in the forecast tho this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed] I parked the car to get out and walk...I saw quite a few different species in such a little time out...

§ Garden Birds...

It's been a quiet week for birding. The temperatures have soared, a tropical storm in the Gulf as I type this up on Thursday, but we will feel a lot more humidity because of the storm front-if possible!  lol], and I have to really stick close to home and do some yard work with Bud before each day gets too hot to be outdoors.  We got way behind in the yard cleanup with Erik being here for a week and the flooding rains; waiting for things to dry out so we we're not sinking in the mud...and now, I don't want us to suffer heat stroke [108°-112°F 44.4°C] So, I share the few birds I spotted as I walked the trails through the Botanical Gardens early one morning over a week ago.  As you can see, the birds sighted are quite common throughout North America, except for the "Texas Kiskadee"...

I hope the Linking Tool works this week.  Seems last week their server was down for a few hours!  I couldn't do anything to assist except wait for the return.  Apologies.

§ Sand Dollar Park Birds...

We have "company" [our son] here for the weekend and into next week. It's been over a year since we've seen him; blaming the pandemic. And, since we are all now fully vaccinated and he has time off from teaching 'til Summer Semester at the university, we are going to take advantage of every minute he's with us. Games, dining out, just catching up on lost time. So, for this weekend, I hope you'll excuse me from visiting y'all and know that I truly appreciate you sharing your birds with us here at I'd Rather B Birdin'. See you next week!!
